Castle de Haar

17 June 2017,
It was very easy now to go to Castle de Haar by public transport. From Den Haag, we took direct train to Vleuten. Next to Vleuten train station, there was a bus terminal where we can take bus no. 111 to Castle de Haar. The bus stopped in front of the castle.
Since we got off the bus, the castle was already impressed us. The wall, the moat and the bridge were beautiful. We went to the ticket office to get the tickets. Since we had Museumkaart, we can get inside for free. If not, we should buy the tickets and they had a separate ticket for garden only or with the castle.

Before we entered the castle, we spent quiet a lot of time in the garden. It was a very beautiful garden, very neat with a good landscape design. The garden was huge with some benches to sit and relax.

Inside the castle, we can see many beautifully decorated rooms. First, we arrived at the hall, which from here we can go to the other room. In the first floor we can see the dining room, the ridderzaal (knight’s room), the ball room with very detail ceiling ornaments, and also a hairdresser salon complete with all the hairdresser equipment.

Then we went to the second floor, where we can see the Baroness Van Zuylen’s room. This room was decorated with pink themed. In the castle, they put flower and it different from one room to another. For the Baroness, they put roses. There were also guest rooms. Every September, Van Zuylen’s family will invite their friends and colleagues. They try to match the decoration to the guest’s preference.

We had our little snack before we leave at the café near the entrance. We waited for the bus at the same spot when we got off. Then took train backed to Den Haag.
